Homebirth Midwifery & Well Woman Care
Equipment & Medication
Midwives typically carry some medications to support labor, birth, and immediate postpartum care. However, midwives must collaborate with a physician or nurse practitioner to secure pharmaceuticals. Among other things, the midwife carries the following equipment and medications to every birth;
*Doppler and fetoscope
*Neonatal resuscitation equipment, including a DeLee suctioning catheter
*Oxygen
*Urinary catheter
*Birth instruments
*Pitocin for postpartum hemorrhage
*Suturing instruments, sutures & Lidocaine
*Vitamin K injection
*Herbal remedies
*Erythromycin eye ointment
